Bricks and Glitter Festival
Bricks & Glitter is a “community arts festival celebrating and centering Black, Indigenous, Two-Spirit, Trans and Queer talent, ingenuity, caring, anger, and abundance.” It’s also one of most bold, brave and exciting festivals and Toronto is lucky to have it.
From September 13th- 27th Bricks & Glitter will be putting together a festival for and by 2SQTBIPOC. They’ll have workshops, live performances, and community gatherings (physically and digitally). The events are organized by an array of community members to celebrate and explore the queer identity in a festival format. We should always be trying to mobilize and create solidarity within our communities, and Bricks & Glitter is/ has been doing just that. If you’re interested in volunteering, or attending an event, check out the link in their bio for more information.
Spread over events from September 13th - 27th, this year’s festival “centers Black, Indigenous and racialized artists coming together to imagine a world worth living in—for all of us.” Programming includes a mix of virtual and distanced, in-person gatherings ranging from "Community Power Mapping to Defund the police, burlesque, discussion panels, queer poetry slam and a couple parties. Check out the full list of programming on their website.
