Curating While Black
A lot of artists don’t have the opportunity to get a gallery showcase, especially in Toronto. Showcasing art is a privilege that a lot of BIPOC artists don’t have. I’m grateful to have had a chance to be recognized on such a notable platform, like the Toronto Star. I got a chance to speak about curating as a black artist in Toronto, my work, and ways in which I have taken steps to highlight people of colour throughout my work. Toronto as a whole needs to start celebrating us out loud. Not even just because we as artists are Black, but because we are all so talented. Access and resources aren’t attainable for everyone, and that needs to change.
